Flurbiprofen Descrption
Flurbiprofen is a member of the phenyl alkanoic acid derivative family of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to treat the inflammation and pain of arthritis. It is known as "Ansaid" marketed by and "Froben" by Abbott. Flurbiprofen is also used as an active ingredient in some kinds of throat lozenges (Strepsils Intensive).

Flurbiprofen acts as an antiphlogistic and analgesic by inhibiting the activity of the cyclooxygenase of prostaglandin synthase.
Flurbiprofen introduces a fluorine atom into its molecular structure. The unique properties caused by fluorine atoms make it more effective in similar drugs with a lower therapeutic dose, thus providing strong anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties.
